SLT Laser – Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty

The SLT laser therapy, which is performed with the SLT laser, cleans the drainage channels in the eye in the area of ​​the trabecular meshwork. Short and low-energy laser pulses stimulate the body’s own macrophages, which remove pigment deposits from the drainage path. This laser therapy consists of four sessions (2 times per eye) and usually achieves measurable stabilization of intraocular pressure very soon. Each therapy session lasts only a few seconds. There are no side effects or risks for the patient. This therapy is now recommended for every glaucoma patient, as it reduces the risk of glaucoma progression in addition to conservative treatment with eye drops.
